The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) is a three-year full-time program. The teaching is built around working with your artistic practice in your studio and at the Academy of Fine Arts' laboratories and workshops. Teaching also consists of individual guidance, joint critiques, seminars, workshops, field trips, guest lectures, and study trips.
As a student on the Master's program, you are affiliated with one of four areas, colloquially called 'schools';
- School of Painting and Image-based Practices
- The School of Media Art
- The Charlottenborg School of Sculpture
- School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices
Each of the four schools is taught by a professor. You choose a school for each academic year, so it is possible to change schools during your master's program.
The master's program concludes with a visual art project, which is presented in an exhibition and an oral defense.
